Brand new, 4-player Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fighting game heading to Wii - select Super Smash Bros. Brawl/former Team Ninja staffers developing!

Zobaczmy.

Kolejne informacje :

The version of the game that we got to see is very early - it’s been in development for just over a year - but it already looks impressive (Ubisoft is aiming for a September ‘09 release). In fact, the visuals may even surpass the bar set by Brawl; for example, a rooftopd level features a city skyline that is much more detailed then most brawl stages. And we were instantly relieved to see that this isn’t meant to be just a kids’ game. The visuals are dark and edgy for a TMNT title, and we were guaranteed that our ears wouldn’t have to suffer through endless loops of Turtles quips like “slice and dice!” during the action. Further, the team wisely avoided tying the game in with any particular iteration of TMNT- it doesn’t look exactly like any of the comics, cartoons, or toys.

As you can probably gather from these screens, the game is quite similar to Brawl in look and feel. There are some differences in the gameplay that we’ll get into in qa moment - and some other features that will set TMNT apart that Ubisoft isn’t ready to reveal yet - but the action should feel instantly familiar to anyone who’s put time into a Super Smash Bros.-style fighting game.

Up to four players can fight at once, and since competing turtles can be tough to distinguish between when the camera is far away, each character is color-coded with a glowing effect. The fighting is what you’d expect: regular moves, special moves, throws and combos. There are also attacks that use the environment, such as flying kicks off of walls, or attacks while hanging from ledges. In true ninja style, you can run short distances up walls, and some stages have poles that you can grab and swing on for higher jumps and more-punishing jump-kicks.

Niezły bullshit, przecież Żółwie i Splinter wyglądają identycznie jak w ostatniej kinówce.

Ubisoft celebrates 25th anniversary of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turns with launch of new video game

SAN FRANCISCO – January 26, 2009 – Today Ubisoft announced that it will launch an all-new, original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles® (TMNT®) video game – the first that is not tied to a TMNT® movie, television show or comic book – which will be a four-player action fighting title.

The game is being developed by Game Arts, noted for working on the critically acclaimed Super Smash Bros.™ Brawl for Wii™. Scheduled for release in fall 2009, the video game will be a key event in the year-long “Shell-ebration” of the 25th anniversary of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles® which, in addition to the video game launch, will include new and exciting products and experiences for TMNT® fans in the U.S. and around the world.

The success of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles® in various media has been sustained over the last 25 years with numerous “bests,” including: the best-selling video game on Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft in 2007; and in the late ’80s and early ’90s, the No.1-rated Saturday morning TV show in the US; the No.1-rated daily syndicated animated TV strip for children; the No.1 Nintendo Entertainment System™ and Game Boy™ Advance video game in the world and the No.1 live touring arena show in the U.S.

“We’re really excited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first TMNT® comic and we have a number of radical ‘Shell-ebration’ events planned for 2009,” said Gary Richardson, CEO of Mirage Studios. “The awesome new video game that Ubisoft will release in 2009 is an important part of celebrating this Turtles milestone with fans around the world.”

“There is no better tribute to the Turtles than the creation of a brand-new game that will help to launch the next 25 years of success,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft. “It’s our pleasure to partner again with Mirage as part of the worldwide birthday celebration for the Turtles.”

More details about the game can be found in the January 2009 TMNT® cover story issue of Nintendo Power magazine in the U.S.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up Interview
We chat with the game's producer, and show off new screens and trailer to boot.
http://wii.ign.com/a...1/951126p1.html
Wybrałem kilka ciekawszych fragmentów wypowiedzi :) :

IGN: The product so far has been described as a Smash Bros. inspired game. Can you elaborate on that more? Does each fighter have their own combos, or is it more like Smash, where there's a default special button and a few directions for each?
Ferriter: Although much of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles development team worked on Smash Bros., a large part of the staff also came from the Team Ninja development team, so there's a lot of different fighting game experience to draw from. The fighting style and controls are unique to this game, and they were designed and balanced for these characters, but they do maintain some of the elegant simplicity of the Smash Bros. controls.

IGN: The single player mode has been a large topic of discussion. Ubisoft went on record saying that it "Wouldn't be like Subspace Emissary" from Smash Bros. Can you elaborate? Are we going to see a more classic Turtles Arcade take, beating up waves of foot soldiers through specific stages?
Ferriter: We can't elaborate too much on the single player experience yet, but I will say that we are planning several different modes of play designed specifically for single player.

IGN: How did this design first come to be, and does it have any allegiance to a specific era of Ninja Turtles? Will we, for example, see aspects of the original comics, 80's cartoons, or more recent live action films in the game? Some of those conflict with each other. How is that being dealt with?
Ferriter: One of the things I really like about the Ninja Turtles is that they have so many different iterations so everyone can find a style that they identify with. Whether you are looking at a comic or a cartoon or a movie they can be portrayed as either bright and humorous or dark and violent. That gave us an amazing amount of flexibility to find a style that was appropriate for this game. We ultimately settled on a style that is a darker version of the modern CG Turtles, which I think works very well with the type of game we wanted to build.
